Questions about the blog

You've got questions, I've got answers – and book recs!

I created this blog to make it easier for dystopian fiction fans to find the books that really hit. Every rec is personal and curated by someone who lives for this genre.

I’m open to guest posts from bloggers, reviewers, or authors who love dystopian fiction as much as I do. If you’ve got a great listicle idea, a deep dive on a trope, or a recommendation post you’d love to write, use the contact form to reach out — just note that I’m looking for quality, reader-focused content, not self-promo.

Possibly! I love spotlighting indie books – but features are limited to curated recommendation lists, author interviews, and occasional guest posts. I don’t do paid placements or guaranteed features, but if your book fits an upcoming list, I’d love to know about it. Feel free to reach out through the contact form with a brief pitch and a link — just know I prioritize quality, genre alignment, and relevance to current blog content.

Yes — many book links on the blog use affiliate programs like Amazon or Barnes & Noble, which means I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and it helps keep the site running and the recs flowing.

Nope — I only recommend books I truly enjoy and think will resonate with dystopian fans. Some featured authors are people I’ve met or admire, others I’ve never spoken to. No one pays to be included in rec lists, and any sponsorships or ads will always be clearly marked.

If you’re looking for a deep dive into the genre, grab the free Ultimate Reader’s Guide — it’s packed with 42 must-read dystopias, from classics to indie gems. Prefer a blog post? And if you want a taste of my own fiction, Exodus is free to download.

Questions about KN Tristan

What I’m writing, why I write it, and where to find it.

I write dystopian fiction that leans near-future, emotionally intense, and just a little rebellious — because the best collapse stories are really about what we choose to rebuild.

I’m a dystopian fiction author based in Ohio, where I live with my husband, our geriatric dog, and a vegetable garden that gets bigger every year. I have degrees in writing and library science (yes, I’m that kind of nerd), and I’ve published 50 sapphic romance novels while writing as Cara Malone. These days, I write near-future fiction that’s sharp, emotional, and a little too timely — if you liked Wool by Hugh Howey, you’ll feel right at home in my corner of speculative fiction.

My books are available at all major retailers — including Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, and Google Play — and directly from my website.

The Glassborn Chronicles began with a desperate choice: with Earth dying and the last shuttle to Mars preparing to launch, a twin steals her sister’s place. That awful secret sets the foundation for a colony shaped by guilt, control, and one man’s vision of survival. Generations later, the lie they buried still defines the system — and the people ready to unravel it.
